THE VACCINE THAT COULD
END CANCER FIRST IN DOGS, THEN HUMANS
Millions of Americans—and their pets—are at risk of developing cancer. But what if this disease could be prevented with a simple injection?

EndCancer.org is working with scientists, medical professionals, and research groups to develop what was unthinkable just a few decades ago: the world’s first cancer vaccine. The present research involves dogs, with the goal to expand to humans.

WHAT IS THE DOG CANCER VACCINE?
AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
Cancer is caused by genetic changes in the DNA, which weaponizes the affected cell against the rest of the body. The cancer cells will divide and spread uncontrollably, often masking themselves as healthy cells to avoid detection by the immune system. As time goes on, the cells get better at tricking the immune system. The disease will metastasize and spread to other parts of the body as the invasion accelerates unfettered. That’s why early detection improves patient outcomes. The sooner the infection is detected, the sooner it can be contained.

The disease works largely the same way across different species. Humans and dogs have similar biological traits. New cancer treatments and prevention methods are typically just as effective on dogs as they are on humans.

EndCancer.org is one of the leading sponsors of an ongoing cancer prevention clinical trial. The vaccine is made specifically for dogs to prevent the formation of cancer tumors. The results to date have been promising. This revolutionary prevention method can potentially wipe out the disease, just like polio was eradicated in the 1950s.

HOW CLOSE ARE WE TO
GETTING A VACCINE TO PREVENT DOG CANCER?
There are vaccines to treat dog cancer, but what if we could prevent it?
EndCancer.org is funding research for the largest clinical trial of a new canine vaccine to prevent dogs from getting cancer.
This is the world’s largest study, which is known as the Vaccine Against Canine Cancer Study (VACCS). Over 800 dogs have been included in the study to date.
It is the biggest medical advancement for dogs on the market.
SO,
WHAT'S NEXT?
Scientists have been able to eradicate dozens of debilitating diseases over the years through research and innovation. It’s only a matter of time before the same thing happens to cancer.
