Why Am I Walking?

When I first was talked into signing up for this (thanks, Mom!) I didn't know anything about it, and thought this would be a little 3 mile walk, and train for it sporadically. Then, as it got closer to orientation time, I got engaged, and thought this would be a perfect way to get my figure in shape for my wedding.

Then I came to orientation. And I almost fell out of my chair when I found out that I was going to be walking around 38 miles over a two day period.

I've never been a big fan of exercising, but as I watched the video of previous walks, and felt the tears start to slide down my cheeks, I knew I could do this.

This is my chance to walk for all of the women who cannot. This is my chance to have a voice for those women, to walk so that one more person doesn't suffer the hurt and pain that is Breast Cancer.

Like I keep saying to those who are surprised (read: shocked out of their mind) that I am doing this, "If women who are undergoing chemo and radiation can walk this walk, so can I.."

Read my blog, follow my training, and if you feel inclined, donate to my team. $1.00 can make a difference, so please, please, if you have an extra dollar, donate.

But most of all, enjoy this journey with me!

About the Weekend:

The Weekend to End Breast Cancer is a two-day, 60-kilometer walk through the neighborhoods of Indianapolis.

Proceeds benefit St.Vincent Foundation, funding important breast cancer research, technology, treatment, and care.

Walking For:

I'm walking in this walk for the following women who are battling or have battled Breast Cancer:

Paula Camillo
Shelly Auld

If you or someone you know have battled Breast Cancer and would like your name on my shirt for the walk, please contact me directly at:

Walking Progress
Hey all! Just thought I would let you know the progress I have made in my training.
When I first stepped into orientation, I was what you would call a "sporadic" exerciser-- meaning I did little to no exercising. At the time, I was walking, around 1/2 mile per day, when I felt like it (read: when it was warn, sunny, and nice out.)
Since attending the orientation for the walk, I have worked myself up to 3 miles every 2-3 days, and 1 mile every other day.
It has been incredibly challenging, at times, since Indiana has decided its no longer spring, and has reverted back to winter.
Keep checking back here to see my progress!
